WoltLab Burning Board contains a flaw that allows a remote cross site scripting attack. This flaw exists because the application does not validate the "hilight" variable upon submission to the "thread.php" script. This could allow a user to create a specially crafted URL that would execute arbitrary code in a user's browser within the trust relationship between the browser and the server, leading to a loss of integrity.
Currently, there are no known upgrades, patches, or workarounds available to correct this issue.

Woltlab Burning Board 2.3.1
WoltLab Burning Board is prone to a cross-site scripting vulnerability because the application fails to properly sanitize user-supplied input.
An attacker may leverage this issue to execute arbitrary code in the browser of an unsuspecting user in the context of the affected site. This may help the attacker steal cookie-based authentication credentials and launch other attacks.
No exploit is required.
