It has been reported that Moodle is susceptible to a cross-site scripting vulnerability in the 'help.php' script. This issue is due to a failure of the application to properly sanitize user-supplied input prior to including it in dynamic web content.
This issue may allow for theft of cookie-based authentication credentials. Other attacks are also possible.
Moodle contains a flaw that allows a remote cross site scripting attack. This flaw exists because the application does not validate 'text' variables upon submission to the help.php script. This could allow a user to create a specially crafted URL that would execute arbitrary code in a user's browser within the trust relationship between the browser and the server, leading to a loss of integrity.
Upgrade to version 1.3 or higher, as it has been reported to fix this vulnerability. An upgrade is required as there are no known workarounds.
