[原文]Integer overflow in the InitialDirContext in Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 1.4.2, 1.5.0 and possibly other versions allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (Java exception and failed DNS requests) via a large number of DNS requests, which causes the xid variable to wrap around and become negative.

- 漏洞描述

Java JRE contains a flaw that may allow a local denial of service. The issue is due to the InitialDirContext function when it performs DNS lookup functions. If a remote attacker tricks the application into doing excessive lookups causing more than 32768 DNS records to be returned, it may result in loss of availability for the application.

A remote denial of service vulnerability reportedly affects the Sun Java Runtime Environment. This issue is due to a design error that fails to keep track of DNS requests.

An attacker may leverage this issue to cause an application running on the affected software to fail to make DNS requests, causing a denial of service condition on network-based Java applications.

Reports from Harry Johnston indicate the OraClient 10g component of Oracle Database Server 10g incorporates a vulnerable version of the Java Runtime Environment and is therefore vulnerable to this issue.
